What Gwangjin-gu is like

Gwangjin-gu's identity is shaped by Konkuk University — the area around its main gate (건대입구) is dense with cafés, restaurants and student housing, and stays lively into the evening. Away from the university strip, the district quiets down toward the Han River at Gwangnaru, where Children's Grand Park (어린이대공원) gives the area a green, family-friendly pocket alongside its student energy.

Getting around

Konkuk University Station sits at the intersection of subway lines 2 and 7, giving fast access to both Gangnam (line 2) and the eastern/northern parts of the city (line 7). Achasan and Gwangnaru stations (line 5) cover the river-facing part of the district.

Gwangjin-gu attracts students and young professionals drawn by Konkuk University and the area's relatively affordable rents compared to Gangnam or Seocho, plus some families drawn to the riverside and Children's Grand Park.
